English term

FLASH LANGUAGE DATA I/F TRANSFER FAILED

English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
I have no context other than it's a display console for a medical device.

I used block letters because that's how it is in the original and I am primarily interested in the 'I/F' part. I am clueless in the IT field, and do not know if this is a special term or it's just a simple 'if'.

In addition, what's 'flash' here?

Thanks for your help!

I/F could be interface

Acronym Finder gives this as an expansion of I/F, and it might fit, but I'm no information technology expert either.
Note from asker:
Hi Jack! Thanks for your input. Yes, that's very likely, but being TOTALLY clueless in this field, I still do not understand the sentence. I'dd appreciate it if you could try to explain it to me, if you understand it. Thanks a lot!

agree jccantrell : And flash probably refers to "flash memory" a nonvolatile semiconductor based memory technology, like a thumb drive.

I think that 'I/F' refers to a 'data i/f cable,' but I am no specialist and am not doing much more than making an educated guess here.

maybe not a cable, but, just as Jack has suggested, there has been a 'data interface transfer failure'
