You have the mean value in the center (say, mu), and to the left of it you have marks that show you the values mu-3s, mu-2s and mu-s. To the right you have marks denoting mu+s, mu+2s and mu+3s.

: If this is a graphic display or plot (seems likely), they could be lines parallel to the vertical axis and located at suitable distances from the mean value (which is probably plotted on the vertical axis). 'Distance line' is a common mech. drafting term.
