Hi,
This is a publication title from alternative medicine.
Does this make sense medically or would it rather be
"The abnormal course of porphyrin synthesis in pyrrolics"?
Thanks,
Cheers,

You certainly get some interesting ones! I would tend to stick with the name of the disorder - Pyroluria/Pyrrole Disorder - rather than the term used for the sufferers which I believe to be 'pyrrolics' (apparently). I must confess to never having heard of it. I've seen no direct references to abnormality in porphyrin synthesis in the context but in synthesis of heme/haem which is a porphyrin molecule. Sorry. Interesting question.
Pyroluria or any of the other names for this condition, simply means people who do not genetically metabolise certain nutrients, mainly zinc and B6, very well. This is then linked to mental health issues, allergies and more besides.

Example sentence:
Pyrrole Disorder is often described as the abnormal synthesis and metabolism of heme molecules, in particular haemoglobin. All cells in the body uptake nutrients and produce waste. The waste produced by the heme molecules is the metabolite ...

Hi Sophie, Just to be sure I get you correctly there: The translation you are proposing is "The abnormal course of porphyrin synthesis in Pyroluria"? Is that right? |

: You can read the ST article now. I think he means (an) abnormality in the porphyrin synthesis pathway in pyr(r)oluria cases.

"The abnormal course of" sounds odd to me. Why not just "Abnormal"?
