Cold infrared

English Medical Medical: Health Care Female Health Care
In a manual for female health care and pregnancy there is a reference to:

"cold infrared light treatment of mammary diseases"

The term "cold infrared" has a few hits in Google but there is nothing in relation to "mammary"

Does anyone know what the correct terminology should be?

Thanks for your answers so far. I just wish I could find some documentation where "cold infrared" is used in relation to breast screening or as a treatment for breast cancer as I'm still not convinced.

This sounds perfectly correct as far as light therapy is concerned.
I am not personally familiar with "cold infrared light therapy" for breast disease. I suspect that the source is referring to some treatment which is, as we delicately say, outside the realm of conventional medicine.

Hi again Chinese Concept.
I think the reason that you have not found any Google hits for "cold infrared" treatments of the breast is that there are no such legitimate treatments. The "therapy" offered by the chiropractor in David Sirett's URL is, in my opinion, just another scam.

On the other hand, perhaps the concept that you are looking for is breast THERMOGRAPHY. This is not really a treatment, but a diagnostic procedure. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermography

Thermography, BTW, has long ago disappeared from Canada, because of its poor results as a diagnostic test.

agree Clare Barnes : To be perfectly honest, I think that putting "cold" before mentioning infrared light/laser treatment has less to do with the actual laser used than with the public's perceptions of lasers being able to burn you (which is not at all always the case).

Hi Jason. This is a subset of the URL that Richard Jenkins used. It was referring to applications of cold substances, not light. It is certainly an unconventional use of the term "infrared". It is from a chiropractic site.

While I agree with Michael if this really is "cold" infrared, there are many googles for "near infrared" detection/treatment of breast disease.
