English term

findings that shape and shift based on changes in probability

English Science Physics quantum physics
Dear colleagues,
I find it difficult to understand the phrase “a set of findings that shape and shift based on changes in probability” in the following passage. In particular, how do you interpret “findings” in this context?
My sincere thanks for your valuable help!

*******************
A quantum is a unit of experience that is the basis for interactions—and so from the quantum view, life and reality are a matter of unfolding interactions based on a wild but empirically established** set of findings that shape and shift based on changes in probability .**

Hi, David and Sophie, thank you so much! you are right, it's a non-physicist's book, although it describes quite in detail a series of principles of quantum physics...
I was wondering: might "findings" in this case mean "effects"? "A set of effects that develop and vary based on probabilities, not certainties"...
By the way, David and Sophie maybe you can post your answers...
Thanks again
Sophie Cherel Feb 15, 2019:
Nice explanation, David. I agree:
The "set of findings" are a person's collection of experiences, since "empirically established" means established by experience, and the quantum unit in this context is a "unit of experience".
David Sirett Feb 15, 2019:
context... is what appears to be a self-help book by an MD on the brain, mind, meditation, etc., so this passage is part of a non-physicist's "explanation" of quantum physics applied to the mind's interactions with reality. The "findings" are presumably the responses the mind receives as it interacts with the world.

I'm not an expert in quantum physics but here there is a helpful definition in lay terms "A quantum is a unit of experience that is the basis for interactions"

I think the best way to decode this sentence is to break it down.

"...from the quantum view, life and reality are a matter of unfolding interactions based on a set of ":

Findings= Empirical evidence

"information received by means of the senses, particularly by observation and documentation of patterns and behavior through experimentation..."

Good question, haribart!
Don't have an answer: for that u have 2 know quantum physics
My humble contribution is merely linguistic.

Note from asker:
Thank you so much, MPGS, for your help! May I ask how evidence and results relate to "shape"?
Hi, MPGS! Thank you for your contribution and for your patience, too! You've helped me a lot: probably, the results of an experiment acquire a different form and also vary depending on context and also on the influence of the observer... Thanks again!
