English term

collection manifest

English Other Transport / Transportation / Shipping
"I have been unable to find the hard copy of [the] collection manifest." (Note by a shipping company after handing over a parcel to a forwarding agent for further transport).

Could the term 'collection manifest' specifically mean or encompass the 'FCR' (Forwarder's Certificate of Receipt')?
Any hints welcome (also reg. term search in the field of transportation).

Veronika McLaren Nov 4, 2009:
apparently the forwarder issues the FCR, according to www.tolee.com/html/cdcs4.htm.
Peter Sass (asker) Nov 4, 2009:
Thanks for your hints - yes, it's a receipt for the hand-over.

The only question remaining - sorry to be so specific: Does the term 'collection manifest' (roughly) coincide with the official 'FCR' (Forwarder's Certificate of Receipt') or are these different documents?

Just found an example of a 'collection manifest' form here: http://www.pallitz.com/manifest.htm.

receipt

this is probably the receipt for handing over the parcel to the forwarding agent for onward transport

Inkassoauftrag

oder Einzugsermaechtigung - Ware wird nur gegen Bezahlung ausgeliefert, und eben dieses Dokument ist verloren gegangen

u.a. Kiesel Dict. of Logistics....
Note from asker:
Thanks for the hint, but Inkassoauftrag doesn't seem to fit here. The term rather denotes a document handed over by the forwarder in exchange for the consignment - just found an example of a coll. manifest form here: http://www.pallitz.com/manifest.htm. So the question is: Does the term 'collection manifest' (roughly) coincide with the official term 'FCR' (Forwarder's Certificate of Receipt') or these entirely different documents?
