this is just a suggestion - the French is not that strong - i have to admit i rarely see the term 'ver de terre' used as a derogatory term
(i was expecting something shocking - the people on this forum are probably more thick-skinned than you think).
the native speakers will surely find better

I have to say that the only time I have seen or heard 'ver' used as an insult was by the English tabloid The Sun with reference to Jacques Chirac.
this is just a suggestion - the French is not that strong - i have to admit i rarely see the term 'ver de terre' used as a derogatory term
