в ситуации с парочкой, то есть как бы двое хотят быть наедине, а третий все лезит, сопроваждает. Есть ли на английском соответсвующая идиома?

Discussion

Konstantin Kisin Jul 5, 2006:
And just for the record, I am a native speaker of British English so I think I should know how we speak in the UK. Again, I am not questioning your right to choose any answer you like but please don't accuse me of copy/pasting...that's just rude ;)
Konstantin Kisin Jul 5, 2006:
You are welcome to choose any answer you like (and distribute points on the basis of nationality/country of residence) but I take issue with remarks concerning an answer implying lack of professionalism on my part.
Konstantin Kisin Jul 5, 2006:
What you fail to understand is that I don't even use the dictionary you are talking about. I am offended by the suggestion that I copy/pasted anything and given that you didn't actually provide any context it was impossible for me to fit anything into it.
Annasah (X) (asker) Jul 5, 2006:
First of all, I rejected your answer because I don’t think it can fit into this context. Before posting the question I had looked it up in Lingvo and seen the translation it suggested, so your copy-paste was not a big deal. Secondly, it would be quite useful to bring examples in your answer yourself – that comes actually from the purpose of your answer (or not?) – to try to give an exhaustive answer, to explain and not merely to copy-paste the phrase from a dictionary that everyone has here and leave the asker to search for references and filter them on the Internet. Thirdly, I do not at all welcome your attitude which could readily be caused by your “answer” not being chosen the best. You gave an answer without thinking or at least offering how to fit it in the text. Finally, I have to state this again, I chose the gooseberry answer because the text I am translating is for a British client, the expression is quite common on the Internet (as you can see), AND IT CAN VERY EASILY BE FIT INTO MY TEXT! If you still want to somehow give some feedback, feel free to open a topic in the forums and carry on there! Or else I will have to ask a moderator to take part in our discussion. Please also note that you are not supposed to make decisions regarding the best answer to my question instead of me(you could have simply contacted me via email instead of posting here). Besides, let us not get down to fault-finding in others’ spelling, there are plenty of spelling mistakes in Kudoz questions even by native speakers if you are attentive. Thank you.
Konstantin Kisin Jul 4, 2006:
Интересно, может когда Вы искали ссылки на мой ответ вы тоже "быстро печатали"? Дело в том, что на "three is a crowd" в Гугле 58 тыс. ссылок, а на play gooseberry нет и 600...и увольте, "лезит" это не опечатка :)
Annasah (X) (asker) Jul 4, 2006:
А вот зря Вы так, Константин. Опечатки - результат быстрого печатания. А ответ to play gooseberry я выбрала, потому что текст - британский, и ссылок на play goosebery нашлось много, в отличие от Вашего ответа, который был абсолютно без ссылок.
Konstantin Kisin Jul 4, 2006:
I wonder who your Lingvo comments are directed at (I even installed it to check - my answer ain't there). It seems to have a decent Russian->Russian dictionary where you could check the spelling of the words "лезит", "сопроваждает" and "соответсвующая"

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to all, but Kari is absolutely right, I can't fit the other variants into my context, besides I do bother to check Lingvo before asking a question:)"

neutral Kari Foster : Correct expression, but if the asker is looking for a phrase meaning "to be the third one who makes it a crowd", I don't know how she will fit this in the sentence.

agree Peter Shortall : http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/english-idioms-sayings/144... http://www.englishforums.com/English/IdiomGooseberry/crmp/Po... (Though some vehicles do need their third wheel - e.g. Reliant Robin!)

agree Deborah Hoffman : Vot eto tozhe khorosho. I guess it depends on the sentence. The situation is called "three's a crowd" but the third person is called the "third wheel."
