: Seems a bit too general. Surely all news is about events. But "event tie-in" maybe. That makes it sound more like a specific occasion. Try Googling for "event tie-in articles".

Such material is not always "anniversary" - for exemple, you may need an urgent poem to a president inauguration... or to a new megamarket opening in your district :-).

I see the problem in conveying pun and irony of the term rather than in strict translation of its quite transparent meaning. In Russian \"датский\" материал is ironical ant funny because it \"misorientates\" you to something Danish, i. e. having nothing to do with the actual subject.
I suppose there is no equivalent in English, so you have two possibilities: 1) strict translation (\"date\" material); 2) some independent invention ( daty poem/article/copy/feature; datificated or may be \"anniversificated material\" ? )

: I can see the Russian term may be wider in meaning, but I thought the asker was specifying the context of anniversaries. You could call it topical copy written for the occasion. "Copy" is a good journalistic term for "material".
