Track Committee ...does not "sound like an answer" Это вариант, который говорит о незнании реалий и непонимании контекста (т.к. коллега сам/сама задает вопрос: can you further explain/expand what the "dorognyj comittet" is?). Rachel Douglas: the Donetsk Railway Committee of ...

Sounds like an answer. Why don't you post it? Many thanks for being helpful!
nanotech471 Sep 22, 2014:
Track Committee of the Railroad and Transportation Workers Union of the Donetsk Railroad
Yuri Larin (asker) Sep 22, 2014:
I would if I could. :) For all I know, the word "dorozhnyj" refers to "railroad" [zheleznaya doroga - railroad]. I just posted this question hoping that someone with a strong background in the railroad industry would swing by and sort it out for me. :)
nanotech471 Sep 22, 2014:
Without an extra explanation the translation would be:
The road committee of the Railroad and Transportation Workers Union

Explain further and I can help you more. It all depends on the specific context.
nanotech471 Sep 22, 2014:
I speak fluent Russian hut don't have access to a Cyrillic alphabet/keyboard can you further explain/expand what the "dorognyj comittet" is? Mogyte objasnit po ruski The literal translation is street committee, but that sounds very foreign in English.
Yuri Larin (asker) Sep 22, 2014:
Дорожный комитет профсоюза железнодорожников и транспортников Донецкой железной дороги

Donetsk Railway Committee of the Union of Rail and Transport Workers

From some experience with RZhD annual reports and also based on several examples: http://yandex.ru/yandsearch?text="дорожный комитет * профсою...
I'm about 75% certain that here "дорожный" means "of that particular railway." So it would be a territorial or institutional division of the trade union, rather than referring to some function specifically related to track maintenance. If that's right, then in English you can omit it, in the sense of not saying it twice. That is, rather than "the Railway Committee of ... of the Donetsk Railway," make it "the Donetsk Railway Committee of ..."

On the other hand, it's at least conceivable that it might refer to track construction, so you're right to be looking for someone with superior knowledge of rail terminology.
