Russian term

акцентуация характера

Russian to English Social Sciences Psychology
Некоторые виды акцентуаций характера определенно могут рассматриваться в качестве фактора риска делинквентного поведения.

There are 134 Google Scholar hits for "accentuations of character," but they are all from Russian-speaking authors. The meaning is clear, but I wonder if there is a standard English psycho-jargon term for this.

Discussion

The Misha Nov 24, 2017:
Susan, I think the difference here is not so much in the term itself but rather the way it is used in the two languages: the Russkies speak about акцентуированные личности (i.e. the whole enchilada being slightly nuts:); anyhow, that's how I remember it from my own college psychology course from 30 years back) while in English they tend to speak of accentuated character/personality traits. As always, usage rules.

In all fairness though, what do I know about such matters, so take this for what it's worth.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Actually Leonhard was German, but that's not important. Of course Russian authors are published in "decent magazines"! The question for a translator is how an English-speaking psychologist would say this.
