I know the dictionary definition.
The problem I have however is that in the text I am translating (another interview with a drug user) the respondent uses 'kak bui' constantly, and the dictionary definition doesn't work each time. I will give some examples.
'Noo, kak bui mestonakhozhdyeniye chto kak bui ochen malo aptyek.'
'Seichas etogo kak bui nyet'.
'To yest, kak bui, v nochnoye vremya est takoi reesk'.
'Preekhodeelos kak bui choozheem shpreetsem kolotsya...'
Can anyone give me any advice on how this is being used? Does it not mean anything, and thus could I simply omit it?

Once, in connection with my job, I heard lots of young drug-addicts (and not only them) use this [kak bi] to just fill a pause or to show their importance or just for nothing, when a person cannot help using the word, which simply turns into a bad habit.
