Privacy Policy
Hi all,
I am translating the Privacy Policy of a Mexican website and I don't understand the meaning of the above phrase. In the legal dictionary I am using, "con acuse" is "with acknowledgement", but it doesn't seem to fit into this context.
Sentence
"...o mediante un escrito con acuse entregado en el domicilio principal de la organización."
My translation
"...or send a letter with acknowledgement to the organisation's main address."
This is from a Mexican NGO's website, I am translating for an English as a Lingua Franca speaking audience worldwide; the translation does not need to be legally binding.
Thank you,
Zosia

return receipt requested
I just checked Tom West's legal dictionary and it has this entry:
con aviso de retorno = return receipt requested
And it notes that "con aviso de retorno" is for Argentina and Uruguay. So "con acuse" is probably the same thing but for Mexico.
Hope that helps!

It also has this in the entry for "acuse"
acuse = acknowledgement
acuse de recibo = acknowledgement of receipt
As you already noted.
I know Linguee can be unreliable, but I like to use it just to check phrases and expressions, and it does come handy sometimes. These examples might be useful:

presentada por escrito con acuse de recibo = presented in writing with acknowledgment of receipt
escrito con acuse de recibo = against proof of receipt
con aviso de retorno = return receipt requested
