As a crowd watched the high wave at the end of an avenue in Ventura, California, a “rogue” wave crashed over the seawall, flooding the area and carrying people and vehicles up the street.
The wave sent eight people to the hospital on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Ventura County Fire Department said on social media.
Cities along the California coast were warning residents that the rough waters caused by a Pacific storm this week can turn quickly into dangerous waves.
“Stay away from rocks, jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure,” the National Weather Service in the Bay Area said on social media. “Never turn your back to the ocean!”

Op een dag in mijn leven, kwam ik er schokkend achter wat voor een per-woord/per-uur-prijzen er gevraagd worden voor engels naar nederlands vertalen, ik dacht bij mezelf; nederlanders kunnen toch niet zo gek zijn, dat kan veel goedkoper met dezelfde kwaliteit, met behulp van software en dat reviewen-corrigeren (en dubbel-checken) vooral door mij, net als ook vele profesionele vertalingwebsites opereren, en dat het is te hopen is deze fantastische dag ook in het leven-biographie van veel andere aanbreekt.
On a day in my life, shockingly found out, how much was asked for English to Dutch translations; per-word and per-hour. I thought by myself; people cant be that crazy, that can be done far cheaper with the same quality with the help of software and correcting and reviewing(double-checking), especially by me, similar as how many professional translation-websites operate, and hopefully this fantastic day will also dawn in the life-biography of many others.
