Discussion

teresa quimper Sep 30, 2010:
Yes, a person may have more than one degree, or a degree in more than one field. But "diplomats" study at the Academia Diplomática and work in foreign affairs. Rural tourism management would be another specialty, not related with "diplomacy".
David Russi Sep 29, 2010:
I don't understand Can't someone have more than one degree? Or a degree in more than one field. is is so strange that a doiplomat might study rural affairs, or vice versa?
teresa quimper Sep 29, 2010:
I agree with philgoddard. There are no "diplomats" in "rural tourism management". Diplomats work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
philgoddard Sep 29, 2010:
I'm afraid your context is a bit confusing - when you say "this is for studies in rural tourism management", what do you mean? What does the Spanish say? Based on what you've told us, he has a degree in diplomacy/diplomatic studies.
Neal Allen (asker) Sep 29, 2010:
I put in the three dots rather than write out diplomatico. I goes on to say to Don (name of the person). Later in a later it mentions that this is for studies in Rural Tourism Management (Gerencia de Turismo Rural). It really is quite confusing.
philgoddard Sep 29, 2010:
There's something wrong here. What do the four dots represent? Does it go on to say "in rural tourism management"? The diplomatic academy would not be awarding degrees in this subject. Diplomático means diplomat.
Leonardo Lamarche Sep 29, 2010:
Neal, You are right to be concerned. It could be Diplomado en Gerencia de Turismo (o Turística).
Neal Allen (asker) Sep 29, 2010:
Clarification I am more concerned with the meaning of "diplomatico" in terms of the professional title of ......... What confuses me is that the degree is in rural tourism? Does this mean "diplomate" as in the holder of a diploma or does it mean "diplomat"?

Academia Diplomática del Perú (Diplomatic Academy of Peru)

Como es nombre propio, lo dejaría en español, pero con una traducción que ayude a comprender de qué se trata

Academia Diplomática del Perú -- in English

Hello there.

I'm not a Spanish-English Translator, but I think there's no harm in entering the site below - it's a link in English offered by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the Diplomatic Academy of Peru / Academia Diplomática del Perú --

Diplomatic Academy of Peru

Speech by the Director, Ambassador José de la Puente Radbill

The Diplomatic Academy of Peru has turned itself, from the year 1955 in which it was created, in the only doorway to the Diplomatic Service of the Republic. Its existence responds to the necessity of having highly qualified diplomats that can, with proficiency, efficiency and opportunity, exercise the defence and promotion of the permanent interests of our country in the foreign field, and at the same time support, in an steady way, the achievement of its national goals.
