Scorrimento

Italian to English Art/Literary Architecture film in architectural design
Can't for the life of me think what this is. You have pan and tilt and zoom. Is scorrimento one of these or something different. I have translated "rotazione" as pan.

You say "I think it is probably a movement like a shot taken from a train on tracks, moving past or parallel to something." If so, that's tracking. Scrolling might be an alternative, depending on the context - an image can have a scrolling background.

not entirely sure, but here's two option. I would choose 'running'. Hope it helps, ciao!

ooops!! sorry, it's too hot to think :-D What i meant to say is that pan means fare una panoramica, whereas I believe rotazione is simply 'rotate,' 'rotation'

even though the text mentions it as a 'technique'....

I'm translating into Engish Gisella ;-)
Yes, but to perform a "pan" you have to rotate the camera horizontally, and to "tilt" rotate vertically. When my author says "rotazione" he means both "pans" and "tilts", which are basically instructions to a camera operator. I need to know the English for the Italian instruction "fare un scorrimento". I think it is probably a movement like a shot taken from a train on tracks, moving past or parallel to something.
That was the other hypothesis I considered, slow or fast motion film, like fast forward on a tape recorder.
What I need is a film buff (expert of cinema).

Here's some other definitions from the link below that may help with the rest.
Definition: Tracking is a lateral camera movement traveling with a moving subject. The camera typically is maintains a regulated distance from the subject.

Definition: Panning turning a camera to the left or to the right. This creates a “pan” of the selected frame in ether direction.

Definition: Tilting a camera is a simple up and down movement that a camera operator can make. Tilt allows the camera to “look” further up or down.
Note from asker:
Hi Rosy, thanks for the help. Could be scrolling, but it is more specific to cinema techniques than a mouse and a computer. Anyway I'm going to ask the author, because it clearly is not something obvious (didn't want to make a fool of myself :) )
