English term

pinto

English Other Food & Drink pinto
I would be so embarrassed, 'cause my mum would turn up with the pinto, and bring us hot food, and drop it off at lunchtime.

They are talking about something they put the food into. Does she mean something like "Tiffin carrier"?

Thanks in advance,

The guy is Aussie Thai.

What cultural background is this person from? I ask because they use the British word "mum", and yet the Ford Pinto is an American car.

Ford Pinto

They’re talking about a car

Note from asker:
If so, it should be in capital letters.

agree Orkoyen (X) : Perhaps embarrassed because many Americans considered a Pinto car to be a step above a rust bucket.

disagree Yvonne Gallagher : does not fit the cultural context (Thailand and/or Australia) at all. And should be capitalised if a proper noun

disagree Daryo : not likely.

agree Katya Kesten : 100% refers to a Ford Pinto. Kid's embarrassed because his mom would turn up in a jalopy and bring food from home because they couldn't afford cafeteria lunches.
