I'd be grateful for any suggestions on how to translate this phrase. It's from a paper about the Roma, and the term appears in the following paragraph:
A pesar de haber distintos planes nacionales como europeos orientados a la inclusión social del Pueblo Gitano, hoy día sigue siendo esta etnia la más empobrecida y excluida. Aun así, poco a poco se ha ido mejorando la situación en cuanto a reconocimiento y restauración histórica (Gamella, 2007), aumento de ayudas sociales y económicas (Marcu, 2018) y creación de entidades sociales defensoras de derechos humanos.

Aun así, poco a poco se ha ido mejorando la situación en cuanto a reconocimiento y restauración histórica (Gamella, 2007), aumento de ayudas sociales y económicas (Marcu, 2018) y creación de entidades sociales defensoras de derechos humanos.

NB: I don't agree with WB's comment that 'historical restoration' is fine in this context. To me, it suggests the restoration of historical buildings and artefacts, rather than reparations for historical mistreatment of (in this case ethnic) minorities.

Diría que con restauración/restauration se aboga por tener y recuperar su identidad, su espacio, sus tradiciones y sus saberes reconocidos, recuperados, reintegrados. Como un monumento que se restaura por su gran valor, vamos.
Desde luego, no serían excluyentes ambos conceptos en discursos vindicativos, pero, en este caso, resultaría más proactivo o adecuado restauración.
