The irony here is that the English (give) and the Arabic (يأخذ) are opposites.

To take (someone) by the hand

This is a common figure of speech in english, one example that I happened to just stumble upon is the song "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors, which had the lyric "Take him by the hand
Make him understand"
