If you had to translate it literally, the best option would be to use "force" for "cos". However, I translate this type of police reports quite often and always translate it simply as "Mossos d'Esquadra", omitting the "force" part because it doesn't really add much information.

For what it's worth, "cos" = "cuerpo" in Spanish. In this case, it will probably be subsumed into "police force," if you use the option suggested in the Kudoz reference.
