Danish term

udpumpning

Danish to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime
This is a term from the articles of association of a shipping company; I think it's something to do with getting rid of ballast water in a ship but don't know the exact term.
Proposed translations (English)
4 +1 ballast pumping

ballast pumping

US engelsk. Det er nemmest bare at bruge "pumping", så er der ingen tvilv om hvad det pumpes. Udpumping er "pumping out", men du har vel allerede kikket på Eurodic.

bale out

If udpumpning is equal to the Danish lænse (empty something of liquid e.g. a boat) then the English term is bale out

But whether this only applies to the manual action, and not a pump, I do not know.

Hope you can use this in some way.

emptying the bilge tank

Bilge water is the term used for waste water for ships and boats. This is stored in a bilge tank. This is something that must be done as part of the general mainenance on ships and boats. I know this from my experiences of sailing and working in shipping companies.
