5.2. Hazardous materials and waste selection, handling, storing, transporting, using and disposing from receipt or generation through use or final disposal:
5.2.1. A system has been developed that addresses the identification of hazardous materials and waste from selection to the point of final disposal. Policies and procedures related to various hazardous materials and wastes are reviewed, revised and approved by the management.
5.2.2. Inventory levels of all hazardous materials will be routinely reviewed against the maximum quantity allowed according to the NFPA 704 and SDS of the material if applicable. For appropriateness as a part of the overall inventory management program of the center, each department head/director is responsible for keeping a current inventory of hazardous materials used in his/her department.
5.2.3. FMS designee/officer oversees the center waste management system which will include but not limited to:
5.2.3.1. The waste storage should be in a dedicated secure facility room with negative pressure and temperature monitoring and collection of hazardous waste has to be done every two hours to the main collection room. Collection of hazardous waste to be in yellow covered container with biohazard sign. Staff work in hazardous waste collection should wear the personal protective equipment (PPE).
