scorfano del Pacifico
Prima di tutto, bisogna precisare che Pacific Rock Cod e Pacific Cod sono due specie diverse: il Pacific Cod è in effetti un merluzzo del Pacifico, mentre qui noi abbiamo un Rock cod, che merluzzo non è. Bisogna tenere presente che per ragioni di marketing spesso vengono etichettati con nomi popolari (come appunto cod) anche pesci di specie diverse, solo perché "As a fish becomes popular and well known, other fish species may be sold under the same name as consumers will feel more confident about buying a fish they are familiar with." Ma si può notare la differenza tra i due nei link che ti indico:

Il Pacific rock cod è spesso chiamato anche rockfish, e partendo da questo, facendo il giro attraverso il Grand Dictionnaire Terminologique, potrebbe essere un tipo di scorfano chiamato sebastes alutus, che il link della regione veneto chiama Scorfano del Pacifico. In effetti rockfish è lo scorfno, ancge secondo lo IATE.
Comunque, non è un merluzzo.
