Hot to trot!

Non so bene come rendere questo titoletto.

Hot to trot!

Smoke at 1600°C, an intensity of tens of thousands of amps compared with just 10 or 20 for a traditional oven…. This electric arc furnace, from the steelworks belonging to our customer LME in Trith Saint Léger (northern France) recycles scrap metal to produce steel.

Air Liquide is extremely interested in this process, given the context of a very sharp upturn in demand for steel, notably in China.

These furnaces are effectively large consumers of oxygen - up to 50m3 per tonne of molten steel.

In addition, American Combustion Incorporated, a Group subsidiary, sells the equipment required for their operation (burners, injectors, process monitoring and optimization, etc.).

Finally, Air Liquide’s R&D is developing a system that uses a laser diode to measure the composition of the smoke. The objective of this monitoring device is to improve the efficiency of such arc furnaces.

In American English, 'Hot to Trot' is a slang expression with no other reference than sexual. Like it or not, it is used of amorous females (never of males), and if it were to be used in any non-sexual context, you may be sure that every single eyebrow of the conversants would be raised.

I'm not saying that a technical text cannot have a non-technical title, but how likely is it that it would have a scatological title which borders even on the pornographic? Perhaps in this context, 'hot to trot' may conceivably mean 'ready to go', but normally it is used of a woman who is 'ready to go for sex'. To my mind, that is a very poor and tasteless choice of a 'titoletto' for any technical subject, save perhaps a dissertation on prostitution.

disagree Liliana Roman-Hamilton : In questo contesto non ci azzecca nulla, però. Mi spieghi come colleghi l'essere bramoso per una relazione sessuale con l'articolo di Laura?????

Again, anyone who used this slang term in a non-sexual context would be considered to be speaking vulgarly, regardless of the stated subject of any 'articolo'. It is NOT a technical expression in English, American or British.
disagree Sabina Terziani : dear Joseph, how can't you see yours IS NOT a viable italian translation? and totally off the point? Also, are you saying that a technical text cannot have a non-technical title?

Dear Maculaex, why can't you see that the translations offerred do not reflect the meaning of this purely SLANG TERM? For SLANG it is, and it does not and cannot have any technical connotation is genuine English, regardless of the context quoted.
disagree texjax DDS PhD : it does have other meanings. You can read some examples below

-pronto all'azione
oltre ad altri significati che hanno a che fare col calore in altri sensi. Penso che qui l'espressione venga usata per il gioco di
parole che hot evoca. Non so bene come renderla in italiano, trattandosi di un testo che descrive caratteristiche tecniche.

Joseph: How sexual is THIS

In the 1960s and 1970s California utilities were *hot to trot* for nuclear power, investing billions in nuclear power plants despite ample warnings from environmentalists and others that nuclear energy was a bad move, both ecologically and economically.

Credit officers are *hot to trot *
Steven Dulake, European credit analyst at JPMorgan, used to spend most of his time worrying about bonds. They were the part of the debt world that interested his bank's clients, such as hedge funds – largely because high-yield bonds and similar
instruments were easy to trade.

disagree Joseph Brazauskas : It is a purely scatological slang term. It is absolutely NOT a technical term of any kind whatsoever.

???? I didn't say that. Anyway, "hot to trot" DOES have other references beside the sexual one!
