français term

asile-colis

français vers anglais Marketing Marketing / recherche de marché Promotion, advertising
This is a cross marketing techique involving two brands: a leaflet advertising brand A is inserted in brand B box. Is there a word for this in English? Many thanks in advance.

Catharine Cellier-Smart Sep 30, 2010:
asilage seems to be linked to "asilage" but I can't find the etymology of that term either. (Leaves one to imagine the poor persecuted leaflet taking refuge in the big safe box ...)
Jocelyne S Sep 30, 2010:
Etymology I've heard of the English terms suggested, but I've never seen the French "asile-colis" before. Out of curiousity, does anyone know where the source term comes from?

piggy-back marketing

Piggyback marketing is an arrangement in which one firm distributes a second firm's product or service.
The second company adds value by offering a more complete solution to the foreign market.
The second company piggybacks its products on to the international market, without incurring the marketing and distribution costs associated with exporting.
Piggyback marketing works well when product lines are complementary and appeal to the same customers.
