German term
allein sprachlich schon
German to English
Marketing
Advertising / Public Relations
translation company website
This is from the website of a company advertising translating services. This part is talking about the qualities of a piece of advertising:
Denn ein Werbetext soll nicht nur informieren (wie andere Fachtexte), sondern auch beim Leser das Interesse wecken; er soll neugierig machen, ja, ihn (allein sprachlich schon) beeindrucken!
I'm not sure what the "allein sprachlich schon" bit means here, that the reader should only be impressed by the use of language?! Any help appreciated.

even on a purely linguistic level
An ad text should not only provide information, as other technical writing does, but also engage the readers' interest; it should excite their curiosity and impress them, even on a purely linguistic level.
I would suggest losing the parantheses in the xlation -- bad writing!

: Cool. The parentheses are definitely undesirable in English, but I had the impression that in German, they'd be less bad. Am I wrong?

it's nothing to do with 'only' in that sense
the text must awake the reader's curiosity and should even impress him, starting with the actual language....

even the language in itself

how well it's written
Because an advertising text should not only inform but also appeal to the reader's interest; it is supposed to make the readers curious, even impress them (if only just from the aspect of how well it's written)!
