German term

Wart

German to English Tech/Engineering Aerospace / Aviation / Space Maintenance, repair
What could a "Wart" be in the context of aircraft maintenance & repair (at an EASA Part 145 Maintenance Organization)? I doubt it could be a warden, which is the only semi-plausible literal translation I can find.

Alison MacG Apr 29, 2010:
Thanks, David - have done so!
David Williams (asker) Apr 29, 2010:
Spot on! Thanks Alison, would you like to submit that as an answer?
Obviously, this is directly related to "Wartung", although it seems rather idiosyncratic usage.
Alison MacG Apr 23, 2010:
EASA Uses the terms aircraft maintenance technician/engineer/mechanic depending on the category of qualification.

I have no idea which term "Wart" specifically refers to, but, in translation here it is used for maintenance engineer:
Wir suchen einen Part 66 CAT A oder B1.3 lizenzierten Wart
EASA Part 66 CAT B1.3 C Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Regional term? This document is from Bavaria, if that helps at all...

Although, of course, terms like Tankwart are used throughout Germany. Might this mean "attendant", like "petrol station attendant"?
David Williams (asker) Apr 23, 2010:
No It is definitely a job title. e.g.:

Peter Downes Apr 23, 2010:
@David Could it also be "warten" - servicing?

(aircraft) maintenance engineer

As stated in the dicussion section (see above), EASA uses the terms aircraft maintenance engineer, technician and mechanic. So, in this particular case, the word maintenance should be included.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Many thanks! EASA Part-66 is exactly the right context, too!"

aircraft mechanic
