ventilatory access
The laryngeal mask airway was suggested as an acceptable solution to facilitate a rapid and easy ventilatory access, even by physicians with limited experience in airway management and wearing protective gear.

Compared with orotracheal or nasotracheal intubation, a tracheostomy is a very stable platform for ventilatory access.

Within the last few decades, several new devices have broadened our attitude toward ventilatory access in patients. Beginning with the conventional laryngeal mask airway (LMA), which was designed as an alternative to ventilation by face mask when endotracheal intubation is not required, various other devices have been introduced for ventilatory access, such as the Combitube® and the laryngeal tube, whereas other adjuncts such as the cuffed oropharyngeal airway have not been successful.

Pinch nose and perform mouth to mouth breathing, (seal rescuer's lips around victim's mouth), or other ventilatory access.
