The reason why I prefer "piano reduction" over "piano score" in this context is that the latter suggests something like a songbook from a musical, while a "reduction" is usually very complex and is done by condensing orchestral parts for piano.
You can play "piano scores" in the sense explained above long before you can even think of being admitted to a "Musikhochschule", where you'd learn to handle "Klavierauszüge".

Playing from piano scores
My first thought was that this has something to do with sight-reading - perhaps "playing at sight from piano scores" - but playing from piano reductions does have to be learned, so it could in fact be both, the suggested term encompassing both ideas.

this is one of the aspects of learning to play the piano. I first thought it could be "sight reading"?
