“Yielding up” is the tenant’s obligation to deliver the premises back to the Landlord at the end of the lease. It is a key consideration in entering in to lease: thinking about the process of leaving the premises and the state of repair of the building on leaving. As well as ensuring vacant possession, this clause usually reiterates the more specific covenants detailed above, possibly with further embellishments.

: This is not about leaving the premises. It is about leaving a shared resource in shape for the next user, and the one doing the leavign behind is in line to use the resource again himself, according to some schedule.
