make that "12 months aging in barrique"

"The finish is persistent with good flavors of plum jam, black cherry jam and blueberry. A well made wine. This Cabernet Sauvignon ages for 12 months in barrique followed by 12-18 months in bottle."

A barrique is a special kind of barrel, so I don't think that rodchop's answer quite hits the nail on the proverbial.

Check out the definition of barrique here: http://www.thewinedoctor.com/glossary/b.shtml

Good point Alison. I'd suggest 'Aged 12 months in barriques' then
Peer comment(s):

neutral Alison Schwitzgebel : a barrique is a special kind of barrel, so I don't think that just saying barrles is enough. Now there are also plastic barrels, but the idea of barrique wines is that they take some of their flavor from the barrles themselves
