Discussion

Eliza Wright Nov 2, 2010:
Good question So, it's #2 oral dipirona or something like that. Good question! I was thinking it was referring to IMV (ventilacion obligatoria intermitente) since sometimes patients need breathing tubes and ventilation when they are under general anesthesia... It doesn't make sense in that context though.
liz askew Nov 2, 2010:
The full context is always much more helpful. Kindly remember in future:) Saludos!
Emma Goldsmith Nov 2, 2010:
You've given us the answer! The numbers are the categories.
opioides 1, anti-inflammatories 2, dipirone 3, others 4
And the first two are shown with routes of administration, iv or vo
Jeff Steffin (asker) Nov 2, 2010:
ANALGESICO POS-OPERATORIA (anote todas las categorías utilizadas): opiáceos IV / VO 1 anti-inflamatorios IV / VOl2 dipirona 3 otros4

That's how it appears and there isn't any further context, unfortunately...
Emma Goldsmith Nov 2, 2010:
Could it be vol short for volume?
What is the context?

As per discussion entries, vo is the oral route (as opposed to iv) and 1 is the category of post-op analgesia used.

Sorry, I've just realised the "l" must have slipped in between the iv and the category number. There's an extra "l" in there.
It must be a typo.
So it's opiodes iv/po 1, anti-inflammatories iv/po 2 ...

Further explanation for those who don't understand my garbled reasoning :)
- We seem to agree that vo means orally.
- The mystery was the extra "l" or "1" in the question.
- First I thought it was clarifed by the category numbers that Jeff explained in the discussion entry.
- Then I realised that this errant 1 or l was in addition to these numbers and so my second note was to confirm that IMO it is simply a typo.
Hope this clarifies everything :)
Note from asker:
Thank you for your help! Since the answers were essentially the same, I thought it was fair to award the points to the first one received.
