Spanish term
RFC patrón origen
Spanish to English
Bus/Financial
Accounting
Income tax etc...
Mexico. This appears in billing software strings (SAT, Mx.). I know what the RFC is, and I suppose that "RFC patrón" means "Employer RFC", but it's the "origen" part that has me stumped.

Source employer tax ID (RFC)
I suppose you could just say "source" here.
"el campo de RFC de patrón origen, se refiere cuando el empleador a través de un tercero (fideicomiso) paga una jubilación o pensión."

Note from asker:
I thought of that, but running it through Google gets zilch (Your search - "Source employer tax ID" - did not match any documents.) Surely this kind of official tax-related thing must have been translated somewhere previously? |
The client leaves RFC and similar stuff in the original. They recently told me to leave Nº Pedimento as it was, saying that if it was translated ( Commercial Invoice nº) it might cause confusion. Go figure :-) |

: There's no particular reason why it should get Google hits.

Thanks, Phil, I agree, while a lot of tax regulation is written on the basis of international principles, the nuts and bolts of implementation aren't exactly interchangeable by any stretch.

: Personally, I think "origen" can be dispensed with here, as employER makes it clear that it's not an employEE's tax ID https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employe...

: +1 James, I don't think "source" is necessary, probably why the low/nil google results.

El “RFC Patrón Origen” (emisor), se utiliza para los contribuyentes que cumplen obligaciones por cuenta de sus integrantes
https://contaduriapublica.org.mx/2019/03/01/cfdi-de-nomina-y...
I think I would translate it as RFC of original employer.

2.-RFC Patrón Origen
Solo aplica cuando el pago a trabajador se realice a través de un tercero, como es el caso de fondos de jubilación pagados a través de fideicomisos.

In the following reference, 'patrón origen' has been translated as 'taxpayer'.

Here it's taxpayer too.
The structure of the RFC varies depending on the type of taxpayer.
For individuals, it consists of 13 characters (4 letters followed by 6 digits and 3 alphanumeric characters) and for legal persons (and certain legal arrangements), it consists of 12 characters (3 letters followed by 6 digits and 3 alphanumeric characters). The first letters (4 or 3, respectively) belong to the name, the next 6 digits are the date of birth or date of incorporation, and the last 3 (or 2, for legal entities) belong to the check digits (homoclave).

Five years later and I'm still none the wiser about these terms. Thanks for posting the links, it's all grist to the mill. |

: That ref. - both of us found and you posted first - gives a hopelessly ambiguous answer of primary employer or contractor vs. withholding-at-source https://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/accounting/627...

Hi, Adrian. I posted the link to the previous question as I thought Neil would find it amusing to see that he asked the same question five years ago!
