I wrote 1.30pm but as I couldn't book a table in advance (they accept reservations just a month ahead) we are quite free to decide what's best for all of us.

I don't know if it's any help to you but this is the train info I got about the train from Cardiff we would need to take to get to Exeter by 1 - thought it might save you a search:
