Source text - English PREAMBLE: We the Members of the Fair-Trade Premium Management Committee of Volta River Estates Ltd (FTPMC of VREL), mindful of our obligations and determination to secure a Constitution to regulate the aims and objectives of the premium Fund and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon members of the Committee do hereby enact this Constitution THIS DAY 24RD JUNE 2020
ARTICLE I: NAME
The Committee shall be known and called the “Fair Trade Premium Management Committee of Volta River Estates Ltd”, herein known as “COMMITTEE’’
ARTICLE II: AFFILIATION
The Committee shall be affiliated to the Fair trade Labeling Organization herein known as FLO and the General Agricultural Workers Union of TUC (GHANA) herein known as “UNION”.
ARTICLE III: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The Committee shall concern itself with the Management and Administration of Funds accruing as Fair Trade Premium in line with the FLO guidelines for premium use:
a) To inform and consult all the workers of VREL about the Fairtrade standards and the Fairtrade Premium and its use
b) To manage and invest the Fairtrade Premium transparently and responsibly.
ARTICLE IV: COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
1. The Fair Trade Premium FUND shall be managed by a committee whose membership shall consist of the following:
a) Two (2) appointed members representing the Management of VREL.
b) Two (2) elected members representing female employees of VREL.
c) One (1) elected member from Sites A, B, and C respectively
d) Two (2) elected members from site D and F.
e) One elected member from Support Staff
The number of representatives from the various Sites/Department (Constituencies) shall be based on the total number of workers at the Site/Department; One (1) representative from a Site/Department with workforce of 150 or below and Two (2) representatives for a Site/Department with workforce above 150. Where there are two (2) representatives from the Site, it shall comprise of a male and a female respectively.
Elected members shall serve for a term of three (3) years, after which they may stand for re-election for A SECOND TERM ONLY.
The committee may co-opt additional (non-voting) members to help with specialized tasks as and when the need arises. (Amendment adopted on 10th of September 2019)
