I'm hung on this, because as transcripts are made from spoken English, it would be extremely unnatural for someone to speak without contractions. However, as they are not included in the original text, would they be considered additional information?

Example:
Ella es bonita.
She is pretty - she's pretty
The first is word in spoken unless emphasizing that she is pretty, as opposed to ugly... but would the second be considered added information?

You should make it as natural sounding as possible Oct 21, 2016

People speak in contractions, and you should use them in your translations, unless it's formal speech such as a judge's summing up. You say they're not included in the original text, but that's hardly surprising since Spanish doesn't use them.
