Participants were myself and an Editor, Helen Damer. We discussed about couple points. First, what is the use of translation for a certain country? We had a very good time to pinpoint the advantages of translation in the development of one country in education, economy, political stability, social affairs and other. We, as translators, have to be real mediators between cultures, peoples and governments in conveying the correct message of one another. Second, what are the main hurdles of translation? Technology has created a very good platform to ease the process of translation such as computers, internet. But, the development of machine translation is also a setback to conventional translation since it is being refined and promoted to the level of acceptance in the translation business. But, we agreed that it could not be equavalent to human translation and it could not replace it. At last, we enjoyed our time with her by having coffee and tea with cakes. The powwow was held at my home. Hope I have given you brief report on our powwow. Thanks, Dan ▲ Collapse | |
